THe DIY Paper Frames Template is a reusable digital pattern that you can instantly download and print on A3 paper. Paired with step-by-step video instructions, this system guides you through assembling a stylish mount and frame for your pastel artwork. The outer dimensions of the finished frame are 385mm x 315mm. With six elegant frame designs to choose from, you can create a stunning personal gallery tailored to your artistic taste.
Why I Created the DIY Paper Frames System
“I developed this framing system out of necessity—my pastel artworks needed a safe, professional way to be displayed in my studio. Since unframed pastel works are so delicate, keeping them exposed often led to damage. After years of experimentation, I designed a framing template that I could easily make at home, and now, I’m thrilled to share it with you!”
Designed for Small-Scale Painting Success
I continue to teach my Live Pastel Landscape Zoom Class, which began during COVID, where I encourage students to work small so they can paint more often. I demonstrate using a format that’s 1/8th of a full Colourfix Art Spectrum pastel sheet (Approx 240mm x 170mm), a manageable size that allows for quick, successful paintings. This format inspired the DIY Paper Frames Template, designed to print onto A3 paper and perfectly complement these smaller works.
Even if you enjoy painting larger pieces, working small is an affordable, time-efficient way to refine your skills and complete more finished works for framing.
